Zinedine Zidane's double snub to Real Madrid defender Danilo

Zinedine Zidane stuck Danilo on the bench after his bad performance against Celta Vigo and the incident which saw him refuse to shake hands with his coach after being substituted in the game.

Even though Dani Carvajal is out injured, with Danilo the only natural option to replace him, he was picked on the bench and Nacho utilised at right-back against Malaga.

Danilo was also whistled by some fans in the Santiago Bernabeu ahead of the game, during the warm-up.

And then, when Marcelo went off injured in the 25th minute, Isco was brought on to replace him. That saw Nacho switch to left back and Lucas Vazquez, the right winger, become right back, while Danilo watched on from the bench.

The controversial moment against Celta Vigo had happened in the 80th minute of the Copa del Rey tie, when Zidane decided to remove Danilo and replace him with Karim Benzema. The French coach makes a habit of greeting his players as they are taken off. Against Celta Vigo, there was an exception. The full-back, visibly annoyed by the decision, left the pitch ignoring the presence of his coach. 

Danilo had motives to be angry. The defender not only produced a disappointing performance, with Bongonda getting the better of him time and time again, but he had to put up with whistles from the Madrid supporters as he left the pitch. If they weren't before, people will be lamenting the absence of Dani Carvajal for the next month even more now.
