Zidane angry at Bale, Benzema & Cristiano and wants more from them

French coach wants to see more defensively from them like he sees from Lucas & Morata

Zinedine Zidane is clear that Real Madrid’s chances of success this season depends on the performances of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, but the coach has had to ask them to help the team in defence, too.

Despite the nature of the eventual win, Madrid’s defending at times against Legia Warsaw — who scored their first Champions League goal in 21 years and hit the post at 0-0 — set of alarm bells among the Madrid coaching staff. Zidane feels the BBC must commit more to the work of the team in the coming games as Madrid suffer with the absences of Luka Modric and Casemiro in midfield.

Some people at Madrid want the French coach to be brave and make a statement by using the club’s young forwards as a warning to the cracks. Every week the Bernabeu asks for the participation of players like Lucas Vazquez, Marco Asensio and Alvaro Morata, who have all performed when given minutes. Zidane has now warned the BBC that they must give their all for the team.
