What a dilemma: Still no space for Celta's rearranged game with Madrid

As both teams remain in Europe, there's no room for the game to be played until May at the moment

Real Madrid's game against Celta Vigo still does not have a date for it to be replayed. Celta's progression in the Europa League against Shakhtar on Thursday means it's still tough to find space in the calendar.

If Berizzo's side had lost in Ukraine, it would have opened up space on either Mar. 14 or Mar. 15. However, their extra-time win, having lost the first leg in Vigo, rules that out.

Therefore, Celta will be playing their last 16 Europa League tie on Mar. 9 and Mar. 16, closing down the option of playing their rearranged game against Madrid.

Therefore, the ball is now in Madrid's court. If Zinedine Zidane's side beat Napoli on Mar. 7 and remain in the Champions League, it will make it even more difficult to find a date.

In fact, if both teams continue to advance in Europe, the only free date before the end of the season is May. 17. That's four days before the final game of the La Liga campaign.

Remember the original game was called off because of the extreme weather in Galicia and the damage to the roof at Balaidos.
