Reak Madrid have announced an agreement for Raphael Varane to extend his contract at the club until 2022, with the French defender set to sign the new terms on Thursday. After, he will give a press conference.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Los Blancos said: "Real Madrid C. F. and Varane have agreed to extend the player's contract, which will see him remain at the club until 30 June 2022.

"Tomorrow, Thursday, at 2pm, Varane will appear before the media in the press room of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium."

Varane joined the club in 2011 and if he completes this new deal he will have spent 11 years in the Spanish capital, almost a whole sporting lifetime.

French coach Zinedine Zidane has always shown a lot of faith in his compatriot, who is now 24 and the first choice centre-back along with Sergio Ramos.

Varane becomes the latest in a string of players to renew their contract with Real Madrid this month.

Marcelo, Dani Carvajal, Karim Benzema, Isco and Marcos Llorente have all signed deals, with Marco Asensio the next to commit his future to the club.
