The London club will reportedly offer 25 million euros for the Croatian

After signing Ceballos, Madrid find themselves with nine midfielders

The amount of midfield players at Real Madrid could provoke some changes to the club's squad. With that in mind, Tottenham have focused on Croatian Mateo Kovacic, one of nine midfield players currently in Zinedine Zidane's squad.

British tabloid the Daily Star claims the London club will make Madrid an offer for Kovacic. The problem is that the proposal will not even equal the 30 million euros Los Blancos paid Inter two years ago. Instead, Tottenham's opening offer is said to be just 25 million euros.

It's unlikely Madrid's board would be prepared to accept that offer, especially as the last word will be given to Zidane. The French coach is the one who must decide what role Kovacic will have after the return of Marcos Llorente and the signing of Dani Ceballos this summer.

Zidane regularly used the Croatian as Casemiro's understudy last season, but that could change with Llorente returning. The academy graduate returns from a loan with Alaves to rotate with the Brazilian, so Kovacic could lose minutes. Zidane has the decision in his hands, although a lot will depend on the size of the offer.
