Thibaut Courtois, named the best goalkeeper at the World Cup, is moving ever closer to a return to Madrid

Real Madrid are continuing to rebuild their image following the exits of both the first team coach, Zinedine Zidane, and star player, Cristiano Ronaldo. Florentino Perez is trying to put together a new squad which will be at the required level to battle on all fronts, and in particular in Europe.

In the last few days we've seen a lot of names being linked with a move to Real Madrid but the only new arrival to date is that of young Vinicius. However, the Madrid fans know that their team needs more established, top tier stars if they are to compete against the best that Europe has to offer.

Their second signing of the summer appears to be the man who was recently named as the best goalkeeper at the World Cup: Thibaut Courtois. In the last few days, SPORT have been told that Florentino is keen to sign a new first choice goalkeeper and that both sides are edging closer to a positive resolution for Real Madrid.

The negotiations between Madrid and the Belgian international are at a very advanced stage, almost to the point that you could say his arrival is imminent. Courtois has been in the Premier League for the last three seasons with Chelsea and before then he wore the shirt of Real Madrid's city rivals, Atletico, as he spent three seasons on loan there from the London club.
