The reason why Cristiano Ronaldo's plane crash landed in Barcelona

The Portuguese star's private jet had an accident at El Prat airport earlier airport this week

As SPORT exclusively revealed on Thursday, Cristiano Ronaldo’s private plane made a crash landing at El-Prat airport in Barcelona on Monday  night. Fortunately there were no injuries.

Ronaldo’s Gulfstream G200, worth 19 million euros, encountered problems on the runway because of a hydraulic failure in the left brake. A charter crew was flying with another client, as when Ronaldo doesn’t need the plane, a private company rents it out to third parties.

As it was about to take off, the landing gear of the plane -- which the Portuguese international acquired around one year ago -- broke down due to hydraulic failure and forced airport authorities to close one of the runways of the airfield for a number of hours.

At the time, Ronaldo was in Germany, where he was with his Real Madrid team-mates preparing for the Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday (2-2).
