The reason Bayern's Lewandowski rejected Real Madrid

After renewing with the German club last month, the striker's explained why he stayed

Polish striker Robert Lewandowski says he renewed his contract with Bayern Munich until 2021 because he couldn't have left for a better club anywhere else in the world.

"Bayern is one of the best teams in the world -- on a par with Real Madrid and Barcelona. A move to Barca or Real wouldn't have been a step up for me. We can win every title here," he said in an interview with SportBild.

"Furthermore, I'm very happy in Munich," added the 28-year-old, who joined Bayern in 2014 from Borussia Dortmund. He renewed his deal in December despite interest from various clubs, including Madrid.

In six seasons in Germany, he's won four league titles, two with Bayern and two with Dortmund. Last season for Bayern he scored 30 goals in 32 games.
