Telemadrid: Julen Lopetegui is considering a move for Thiago Alcantara to improve Real Madrid's midfield
The former Spain coach has identified central midfield as the area which needs improving and has a good relationship with Thiago
Julen Lopetegui is settling into the job at hand with Real Madrid and it appears as if he's already passed a list of transfer targets to club president Florentino Perez. The former Spain coach has a squad full of stars and plenty of them, notably Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, still need their futures resolving. However this hasn't stopped Lopetegui identifying potential reinforcements.
According to 'Telemadrid', the main target for Lopetegui this summer is Thiago Alcantara. The player, who came through the 'La Masia' academy with rivals Barcelona, is currently on the books of Bayern Munich but is open to a move back to Spain. In fact, SPORT reported a few weeks ago that Barcelona are interested in Thiago too.
Bayern are also open to selling Thiago this summer if they receive a fair offer for the Spanish international. Thiago was one of the first names on the team sheet for Spain under Lopetegui and it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that the two could be reunited at Real Madrid. A player with imagination coupled with incredible technical ability is exactly what Lopetegui is looking to add to his midfield next season. Let's not forget that Thiago starred for Real Madrid's coach when he they worked together with Spain's successful U21 side.
Bayern and Real Madrid also need to negotiate the sale of James Rodriguez to the German team this summer. If Thiago was included as part of the deal it could see both teams walk away from those talks happy.
