Sergio Ramos out of Espanyol game as Bale set for return

The defender did not train on Friday and will not be risked by Zidane at the Bernabeu

Sergio Ramos will miss Real Madrid’s game against Espanyol on Saturday.

The Spain defender picked up a knock against Napoli in Tuesday’s Champions League game.

Taken off as a precaution, but also as he had been booked, Ramos will not be risked against Quique Sanchez Flores’ side at the Santaigo Bernabeu.

Tests on Friday confirmed it’s a hip problem which will keep him out — although Madrid did not release a medical report — but he will not be sidelined for any length of time.

Fabio Coentrao and Danilo are also expected to miss out with injuries.

However, Gareth Bale could return to the squad for the first time in three months after training with the first team this week.

The Welsh winger is likely to be a substitute in the game on Saturday, which kicks off at 16.15h CET.
