Isco says his aim was always to remain at Madrid and be a success

He has signed a new deal at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2022

Real Madrid midfielder Isco signed his new contract with the club on Thursday and revealed there had been "some contact" with Barcelona but that he hadn't "listented" to any of the offers he received.

"Never!" he said when asked if he could move to Barça -- with one year left on his deal, he'd been linked with moving to Camp Nou on a free transfer next summer.

"Like I’ve said, my idea was always to be a success at Madrid. It’s true I’ve had some bad moments, but that makes the good moments last so much better. I don’t regret anything.

"There was some contact [with Barça], but I never listened to them. My intention was to be a success here with the team that took a chance on me. I want to consolidate my place in the team and win a lot of trophies."

Isco's new deal runs until 2022 and his form in recent weeks -- for club and country -- has been impressive.

Madrid travel to Real Sociedad on Sunday after back-to-back draws at home to Valencia and Levante, while La Real have began the new campaign with three straight wins in the league.
