Real Madrid release statement in defence of Cristiano Ronaldo

They say Ronaldo "has always shown a clear will to fulfil all his tax obligations"

"We hope justice is done as quickly as possible so innocence can be proven"

Twenty-four hours after Cristiano Ronaldo was accused of tax evasion on on his image rights totalling 14.7 million euros, Real Madrid have released a statement on their website. 

In said statement, Madrid assure they have "have full confidence in Ronaldo, who we understand has acted in accordance with the legality regarding the fulfilment of his fiscal obligations." 

Madrid also explain that "since his arrival in July 2009, Ronaldo has always shown a clear will to fulfil all his tax obligations."

In the statement, Los Blancos go on to add that they are "absolutely convinced that our player will prove his total innocence in this process."

And finally, Madrid say that they now "hope that justice is done as quickly as possible so that his innocence can be proven as soon as possible."
