Real Madrid player ratings as they're beaten by Valencia

Real Madrid lost 2-1 at Valencia on Wednesday in a game which had been rearranged due to their participation in the Club World Cup. 

Here are their player ratings: 

KEYLOR NAVAS (6) Conceded two goals, but did well when Valencia threatened other than that, making some good saves. Could maybe have done better on Orellana's goal.

CARVAJAL (6) A decent display from the right-back. Showed a good attitude and was an attacking threat. 

SERGIO RAMOS (5) There was no late goal to save Madrid here. Not at his best in defence, either, and lucky not to give a penalty away for a foul on Munir. 

VARANE (3) May well be in the running to play the Karate Kid given the kick to the face of Gaya which earned him a booking. Lucky it wasn't a red. Struggled to deal with Zaza and made mistake after mistake until Zidane took him off for Nacho. 

MARCELO (6) A good performance even though he was injured for a large part of the game. A great assist for Ronaldo's goal. 

CASEMIRO (5) Not his finest performance. Made a number of little kicks and cynical fouls.

KROOS (5) Didn't do much to classify his game in positive or negative terms. However, the fact he was not heavily involved says a lot. 

MODRIC (6) Moved the ball quite well in midfield, but lacked something in the final third. Taken off for Lucas for the final 15 minutes, which proved a blessing for Valencia. 

JAMES (5) A discrete performance from the Colombian who had the chance to make his case for a regular place in the side. Had a couple of chances, but was the first player removed by Zidane, making way for Bale. 

BENZEMA (5) One great shot from outside the area drew a fine save from Alves. Apart from that, once again, he did not do enough. 

CRISTIANO RONALDO (6) Remains in a strange state of hibernation, although his headed goal here was spectacular.
