Madrid have been linked with a move for the Italian defender

Bonucci only left Juventus for Milan in the summer

According to the director of Milan, Massimiliano Mirabelli, Leonardo Bonucci will not leave the club.

Asked about Real Madrid’s possible interest, he told Premium Sport: “We know there will always be interest in him but we have started a project and we want him to continue with us.”

Madrid are combing the market as the look to improve their squad.

They are currently third in La Liga, eight points behind league leaders Barcelona after 13 games.

Defence is one of the ares they are looking to improve and the name Bonucci has been mentioned.

But the Italian defender only joined Milan from Juventus in the summer and was named captain of the club immediately.

He is a key part of the project which is now in the hands of Gennaro Gattuso following the sacking of Vicenzo Montella on Monday.

However, Bonucci left Juve to head up Milan’s ambitious plans and if they’re not successful he could consider a move in the future, although it would be complicated.

Mirabelli also spoke about the chances of Milan being excluded from Europe for breaching UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.

“AC Milan will never be excluded, the fans can be sure of that,” he added.
