Real Betis 1-6 Real Madrid: Los Blancos end string of draws

Los Blancos had drawn four games in a row but Betis couldn't add to the visitors' misery and went down hard

Real Madrid’s run of four consecutive draws ended after they thumped Real Betis in Seville.

Madrid took control from the start, with Raphael Varane nodding home from Toni Kroos’ free-kick.

The German set up the second goal too, feeding Karim Benzema, who tucked home easily.

Three came when Marcelo, who was offside, scored after Benzema’s shot came his way, before Isco finished the fourth which was a brilliant counter-attack.

Betis pulled one back in the second half through Alvaro Cejudo but Isco struck the fifth and Cristiano Ronaldo finally got on the scoresheet with No 6.

Madrid move joint top of La Liga with Atletico, on 18 points, while Sevilla have 17th in third and Barcelona 16 in fourth.
