Florentino Perez breaks his silence and speaks about Gerard Pique

The Barça defender is in the spotlight due to comments he's made about referees this week

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has broken his silence and after Real Madrid's success at FIFA's The Best gala has spoken to various Spanish radio stations.

Perez spoke about several different subjects, not just the awards. He even spoke about the most recent controversy, Gerard Pique's war of words against the referees in Spanish football.

Asked about the images of Pique appearing to shout at LPF chief Javier Tebas in the stands, Perez said that for him Pique is "a great player and he's demonstrated that by being in the FIFA FIFPro. That's what Pique is for me."

On the refereeing situation, he added: "I've never spoken about referees in my life. I never have anything to say. What we have done since 2000, the club and me especially, is help them [referees] get better."
