Marcelo will miss the games due to his aggression towards Lerma

Real Madrid's appeal against the ban was rejected on Wednesday

Marcelo's two game suspension has been upheld by the RFEF's Competition Committee after Real Madrid had presented an appeal following the left-back's dismissal in the weekend's 1-1 draw with Levante.

The Brazilian was sent off late on in the game at the Santiago Bernabeu afterk kicking out at Levante's Jefferson Lerma.

In their decision, the Competition Committee said that the video evidence presented by Madrid was not sufficient to cancel out -- or, at least, reduce -- reduce the punishment.

Therefore, Marcelo's suspension stands, in addition to a fine of 700 euros for the club and 600 euros for the player.

He will miss the upcoming league games against Real Sociedad and Real Betis, with Madrid having drawn their last two games in Spain's top flight.

In contrast, meanwhile, the Competition Committee did agree to overturn the yellow card shown to Levante's Alex Alegria in the same game.
