The striker's current deal was due to expire in 2019

His new release clause has been fixed at one billion euros

Karim Benzema has agreed a contract renewal with Real Madrid. Los Blancos confirmed on Wednesday ahead of the game against Real Betis that the French striker will extend his stay at the Bernabeu until 2021.

Benzema's current terms run until 2019, but the club and the forward have decided to amplify that until 2021. Madrid have also announced renewals for Isco, Marcelo and Dani Carvajal in the last week.

If he fulfills the deal, Benzema will be 34 and will have completed 12 years at the club, while his buyout clause has increased from 250 million euros to one billion euros.

On Thursday, Benzema will sign the deal, accompanied by his family and Madrid president Florentino Perez. Then he will give a press conference at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Benzema is currently out with an injury so will not be involved in Wednesday's league game against Betis.
