The forward Álvaro Morata has reached an agreement with Chelsea and will leave Real Madrid’s tour of the US in the next few hours to travel to London.
The Madrid club will receive €80 million for the player. The deal has been agreed and is just pending confirmation. Morata was keen to resolve his future as he did want to stay at Real Madrid if the coach, Zinedine Zidane, did not consider him a key player.
The forward almost joined Manchester United but the two clubs could not agree a fee. In the end, Madrid had to lower their demands and have accepted the offer from Chelsea. Antonio Conte, the Chelsea manager, was the driver of the transfer having worked with the player during his time at Juventus.
