Butragueño, meanwhile, feels is could be the final

And Emery says PSG "can compete with Real Madrid"

Former Paris Saint-Germain player Maxwell says that the French club are ready for the challenge posed by Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Maxwell, who now works behind the scenes at the Ligue 1 side, says that "it is a good draw for PSG. I think the second leg at home could decide the tie. It's a nice challenge. We are ready."

PSG coach Unai Emery said: "I think it's a good draw. I believe we can compete with Real Madrid. To make something great in the Champions League, you need to beat the best teams.

"The last 16 is a good moment to play such teams. We'll need to show our character, our tactical skills and our talent. Talent is very important."

Meanwhile, Madrid's director of international relations Emilio Butragueño said the round-of-16 tie "could have been the final, such is the power of both teams."

Butragueño, who was present at the draw in Nyon (Switzerland), feels that the tie between two of the favourites has arrived "a little too soon" for the competition.

He added: "A draw at this stage is like that, though, and one of the two sides will be knocked out. Paris are getting stronger year on year. They played an impeccable group stage and have huge potential."
