Mateo Kovacic shocks Real Madrid by asking to leave
Kovacic has told Real Madrid that he wants to play more often and would like to leave the club if they can't promise him that
Real Madrid's central midfielder, Mateo Kovacic, has asked to leave Real Madrid. Kovacic is happy at the club but he wants to be a starter and this is causing him to feel unsettled. With the amount of quality Real Madrid possess in the midfield area it looks unlikely he'll be in the first eleven next season. This is why he's informed the club he wants to leave and that they should listen to offers for him.
According to the information, which comes from 'El Partidazo' on Cadena Cope radio, Kovacic's agent has asked Real Madrid to let his client leave the club. The response from the club was a firm no and that they wouldn't be accepting any offers for him.
Kovacic is currently at the World Cup with Croatia and he's left everything in the hands of his agent. When he returns from Russia he'll need to decide if he should personally ask for a move or whether he'll accept another season trying to force his way into new coach Lopetegui's plans.
