'James Rodriguez has to rebel against the situation and show his talent'

Former Madrid player and coach Valdano has had words of encourgement for the Colombian

Real Madrid’s Colombian star James Rodriguez has stayed in Spain and not travelled to Poland for the Champions League game against Legia Warsaw.

Zinedine Zidane left him out of the squad, a decision which wouldn’t have gone down well with the player or his supporters.

Former Madrid player and manager Jorge Valdano, who now works in television, has spoke about the situation James is currently going through.

“[Until now] he’s playing more in the Champions League than La Liga and there’s the challenge,” he said.

“Just like [Alvaro] Morata and Lucas [Vazquez] have caught fans and journalists’ attention, that’s what James has to do, rebel against the situation and show his talent.

“He did so in his first season. He has the talent, he has to show it.”

James Rodriguez is working hard to do so and to recover his manager’s confidence, although he won’t rule out leaving Madrid in the future if things don’t change.
