Danilo's Zidane snub could leave Real Madrid stock even lower

The Brazilian right-back ruined his first chance to impress in Carvajal's absence

Danilo is the latest victim in the Real Madrid dressing room. The Brazilian right-back has never got on well with Madridismo, but Wednesday's events at the Santiago Bernabeu could mark a before and an after in his internal relations with the club. To start, there's nothing like ignoring a handshake with your coach to add fuel to the rumours.

The controversial moment happened in the 80th minute, when Zidane decided to remove Danilo and replace him with Karim Benzema. The French coach makes a habit of greeting his players as they are taken off. Against Celta Vigo, there was an exception. The full-back, visibly annoyed by the decision, left the pitch ignoring the presence of his coach.

Danilo had motives to be angry. The defender not only produced a disappointing performance, with Bongonda getting the better of him time and time again, but he had to put up with whistles from the Madrid supporters as he left the pitch. If they weren't before, people will be lamenting the absence of Dani Carvajal for the next month even more now.
