Cristiano Ronaldo's new mega salary has been revealed in Portugal

Los Blancos want the 31-year-old to be the best paid player in the world

Cristiano Ronaldo wore a big smile on Monday at the presentation of his new contract. The Portuguese international signed his umpteenth renewal with Real Madrid, but both the player himself and his entourage are aware it could be his last big contract as a profession.

Jorge Mendes has been negotiating the deal with Florentino Perez for months, insisting that Ronaldo should be the best played player in the world. No-one has revealed the exact numbers of the deal, but Correio Manha, a newspaper with close links to the player’s representatives, has now done so. They report that he will earn 23.6 million euros net per season, which will result in 118 million euros if he finishes the contract in 2021 after tax.

The Portuguese newspaper gives another detail, too. They say that Ronaldo’s has given some of his image rights to Madrid, but has kept hold of an important percentage for himself.

That’s because he has a large amount of money coming in from his image being on different products. He even has his own line of clothing. Madrid have made an important investment in the player, given that his deal is now worth more than 50 million euros annually to them with the tax included. There are many teams in La Liga who operate on a budget smaller than that.
