Portuguese magazine Sabado has revealed that Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo tried to convince singer Madonna's son to sign for Sporting Lisbon instead of Benfica.
American singer Madonna has moved to Portugal and her son, David Banda, 11, has signed for Lisbon-based Benfica, prompting here to extend her stay in the country.
The story of his signing is a curious one, though, as told by Sabado. Ronaldo called Madonna to try to get her son to not sign for Benfica, but for Sporting, the club he played for before signing for Manchester United.
However, the magazine also says that "the singer's decision did not change" despite Ronaldo's intervention. Asked for a comment by the magazine, Ronaldo decided not to say anything.
