Cristiano Ronaldo substituted as Real Madrid beat Athletic Club

Zidane took the Portuguese off with just over 10 minutes to play

Madrid and Ronaldo are facing a packed April with some big games

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo was taken off during his side's important win over Athletic Club on Saturday, leaving the pitch in the 79th minute.

Ronaldo was replaced by Isco and was jeered by the home supporters as he left the San Mames pitch, seemingly happy to accept his manager Zinedine Zidane's decision.

That's in contrast to what happened when he was taken off against Las Palmas, when he appeared upset with the French coach's decision. It created many talking points as Madrid were held to a draw.

This time, save the whistles and the reaction from the Athletic fans, Ronaldo was more at ease with the decision.

After the international break, which he will spend with Portugal, Madrid have a packed April which includes league games against Atletico, Barcelona and a two-legged Champions League tie against Bayern Munich.
