The Portugal forward stepped on Manu after losing control of the ball

It was his first game back in domestic football after a five-game ban

Cristiano Ronaldo was the centre of attention once again on his return to domestic football as he stamped on an opponent in Real Madrid's shock defeat to Real Betis on Wednesday.

The incident took part inthe second half when Ronaldo lost control of the ball and Betis player Manu got in front of him. As Manu fell to the floor, the Portuguese forward stepped on his calf.

It was a frustrating night for Ronaldo as he missed a series of chances, at one time appearing to blame the state of the Bernabeu pitch as Madrid failed to pick up points at home in the league for the third game running.

Cristiano was making his first appearance in La Liga this season after being handed a five-game ban for pushing over the referee in the Spanish Super Cup, but he got away with his stamp on Manu, which deserved, at least, a yellow card.
