Tottenham are keen to tie the midfielder down and fend off interest from elsewhere

Dele Alli has become one of the most highly rated players in Europe. The young Tottenham player continues his rapid progression and clubs such as Real Madrid and Barcelona have both been linked with him.

Spurs legend Ossia Ardiles says if he was the coach of either of the La Liga giants, he'd be keen on signing the England star.

"Success breeds success, and a lot of [Tottenham's] players are starting to demand interest from different clubs," Ardiles told Sky Sports.

"Real Madrid and Barcelona are going to be interested and I would say Dele Alli is the prime suspect right now. Everyone wants him, and if I was the manager of Real Madrid and Barcelona, I would want him. He is a wonderful player and very young."

However, the London-based club are not going to let him leave easily.

Spurs' plan is instead to increase the 20-year-old's salary, according to the Daily Mai. Since first signing for the club in 2015, Alli has already had his contract renewed three times according to his growing status in the team.

The most recent deal was signed last September when he committed until 2022 on terms worth 55,000 pounds per week. And despite having time to run on his contract, owner Daniel Levy wants to increase his wages again to fend off outside interest.

The idea is that he becomes one of the players to pick up 100,000 points per week. Said offer would bring him in line with the club's top earners, Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris.
