The Independent: Barcelona interested in signing Diego Costa

Reports in England say Barça and Atletico are following the unsettled Chelsea striker

Diego Costa's situation at Chelsea continues to create speculation about his future.

On Tuesday, the English press, in concrete The Independent, claimed that the uncertainty surrounding the Spain internatonal striker has provoked interest among many teams, such as Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

According to these reports, Barcelona have told the player's people that they are following the situation and the could be keen to make an offer in the event he does decide to leave Chelsea. It's an operation for the summer, though, not for January.

The English paper argues that Luis Suarez will turn 30 this month and the club are open to looking for a slightly younger striker -- even though Costa himself is only 28 -- given the trident formed by the Uruguayan, Lionel Messi and Neymar has lost some of its magic since the electric 2014-15 season.

As for Atletico, it's no secret Diego Simeone wants Costa back in the Spanish capital. The Independent say they will move to sign him to replace the outbound Antoine Griezmann, who could move to Manchester United.

However, the problem is that Atletico are currently serving a transfer ban and as things stand are not allowed to sign players until next January.
