Surprise at Man City: Guardiola leaves Bravo on the bench

The former Barcelona goalkeeper has struggled since joining the English club

There's a big surprise in Pep Guardiola's Manchester City side for Wednesday's Premier League game: Claudio Bravo will start on the bench against West Ham.

The Chilean goalkeeper has been in the centre of a storm since he arrived at the club and following Willy Caballero's good performances in the FA Cup, Guardiola has gone for the Argentine.

It's the first time Bravo's been left out in the league since he landed in England. The former Barcelona goalkeeper joined late in the summer and made his debut in the derby against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

During recent weeks, Bravo has been heavily criticised by the local press -- and he's conceded six goals in a row in the league in 2017 without making a single save.

Sergio Aguero has also been surprisingly left on the bench. The forward had an injury which kept him out at the weekend, but Guardiola said he was ready to play. In his place, though, the City has chosen the recently signed Gabriel Jesus.
