The Everton boss is deeply disappointed with the player

Rooney was arrested for drink driving last weekend

Ronald Koeman didn't hide his "deep disappointment" at the news Everton striker Wayne Rooney was arrested for drink driving and admitted he will fine the forward, although it will be dealt with "internally."

Rooney must appear in court in Stockport on Sept. 18, one day before he's due to return to Old Trafford to face his former club Manchester United.

The former England forward, who has scored two goals in three Premier League games this season since returning to Everton, was arrested on Aug. 31 driving a VW Beatle over the legal limit.

Three days previously, Rooney, 31, has announced his decision to retire from international football, despite England boss Gareth Southgate's intention to call him up for his latest squad.

"We have spoken on Tuesday and the chairman Bill Kenwright has spoken to him about his situation," Koeman said. "He will be dealt with internally at the appropriate time."
