Pep Guardiola wants Dani Alves to join him at Manchester City

The Catalan coach would like a reunion with his former Barcelona player in England

Pep Guardiola and Dani Alves could be reunited next season. According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City are interested in signing the right-back and say that both sporting director Txiki Begiristain and Guardiola, who were both with Alves at FC Barcelona, have spoken with the player about the possibility.

The English paper says a deal could have been done in January, but an injury suffered by Alves at the end of last year but the brakes on the negotiations.

Alves, 33, has a contract with Juventus until 2018, which would mean a deal could be possible in the summer, given he'd only have one year left on his deal in Turin. The Brazilian has maintained a good relationship with Guardiola and with Begiristain and the idea of playing in the Premier League before retiring could seduce him. But for the deal to happen, he would likely have to take a wage cut.

City's second option would be Arsenal's Hector Bellerin, 21, who recently signed a new deal with the London club. That would be a long term investment, though, as City look to bolster their options at right-back, where they currently have Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna.
