The striker crashed while in a taxi and could be out for weeks

He will miss Argentina's World Cup qualifiers at the beginning of October

Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero fractured a rib after crashing while in a taxi in Amsterdam on Thursday and could miss Argentine's upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Aguero was in the Dutch city to see Colombian regaeton artist Maluma in concert and was on his way back to the airport to return to Manchester.

According to reports, the taxi lost control and crashed into a post.

Premier League club Man City confirmed that  the striker "was in Holland on his day off and has sustained injuries."

Aguero is unlikely to feature for City this weekend against Chelsea and could be out for seveal months, which would see him miss his country's vital World Cup qualifiers.

Argentina are fifth in qualifying -- which would only earn them a playoff spot, not direct qualification -- and have just two matches remaining.

Jorge Sampaoli's side play Peru and Ecuador at the beginning of October and hope to book their place in Russia next summer.
