Manchester City make signing of Gabriel Jesus official

The player says Guardiola's a big reason why he's moved to England from Brazil

Manchester City have made the signing of Gabriel Jesus from Palmeiras  official on Thursday. After resolving some bureaucratic issues, the young Brazilian striker is now a City player by all effects. He will wear the No.33 shirt and is now available for selection for Pep Guardiola's side.

In a press release, the club have revealed the first photographs of the player in a 'sky blue' shirt and he's also spoken about his move to England.

"I want to win titles and Manchester City is a club that is used to winning," Jesus said.

"City is a Club that always competes for the title in the competitions it enters, so that was an important factor, and because of the manager, Guardiola, and the squad."

Sporting director Txiki Begiristain added: “Gabriel is a technically gifted player who was chased by some of Europe’s biggest clubs and we are delighted he decided to join City.

"He has the potential to become one of the best attacking players in the game and we look forward to watching him develop further here in Manchester."

The player has already spent time in Manchester training with his new team-mates. The signing was closed last summer, with the condition that the 19-year-old would arrive in January.

Now, with the documents all cleared, the club have at last been able to announce the move. Last week he was unable to play at Everton, but he could debut this weekend against Tottenham.
