Liverpool tempted by Barça old boy Victor Valdes

Various reports in England are now suggesting Victor Valdes could sign for Liverpool

The goalkeeper left Barcelona in the summer and seemed all set to sign for French club Monaco. However, after failing a medical, Monaco opted against going through with the deal.

It has left Valdes without a club and still nursing the injury he picked up playing for Barcelona against Celta Vigo last season.

As he is available for free, Valdes, 32, would be able to sign for a new team outside of the transfer window.

And Brendan Rodgers could be prepared to make him a Liverpool player, where he would battle it out with Simon Mignolet for the gloves once fit again.

Brad Jones is currently the Anfield club's No. 2 stopper.

Valdes wouldn't be the first Spanish keeper to sign for Liverpool - Pepe Reina left for Bayern Munich this summer after an extremely successful spell in the Premier League.
