Koeman would be interested in taking Rooney back to Everton

The Dutch coach has confirmed he would be interested in the Man Utd player if he's available

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed that the club would be signing Wayne Rooney if he came on the market next summer.

Even though he has two more years on his Manchester United deal, former Everton forward Rooney's future at Old Trafford is not clear as he's not a regular in Jose Mourinho's side.

Koeman's said that if the 31-year-old leaves at the end of the season, Everton would be keen on the player who left the club for 27 million euros in 2004.

“I believe that Wayne Rooney is still playing at a high level. I think he made a good choice to stay at Manchester United and in the Premier League because he has still two or three years in front of him to play on a high level," the Dutch coach said.

“What will happen at the end of the season? I don’t know but in my opinion he is one of the players who can make Everton more stronger. It’s all about what the player likes, what Manchester United needs to do, and we are not involved in that project. But every player that we at Everton think can make the team stronger is welcome to Everton.”
