Hummels edges toward Manchester United switch

Providing there is no late drama, Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels is expected to become a Manchester United player.

The agreement between the two clubs is thought to be around €20 million and the transfer will be made official this week.

United's offer satisifed the economical expectations of the German club, who have already made their move in the market to replace Hummels.

Jurgen Klopp will put his faith in Matthias Ginter, a 20-year-old defender who has already been capped by Germany and was signed from Freiburg this summer.

Hummel's impressive World Cup did not go unnoticed by Man United's new manager, Louis van Gaal, who has also been won round by the 25-year-old's experience in international football and in the Champions League.

Ander Herrera (Athletic Club) and Luke Shaw (Southampton) have already been signed by United and, in what is expected to be a busy summer, Hummels is unlikely to be the last arrival.
