Guardiola hopes to be closer to his targets with Man City next season

Pep Guardiola admits that the results he's achieved with Manchester City this season would have seen him sacked at Barcelona or Bayern Munich.

City crashed out in the last 16 of the Champions League to Monaco and failed to reach either of the domestic cup finals.

Meanwhile, in the Premier League, they are not yet guaranteed of the top four place they need to qualify for Champions League football next season.

"I am not staying here because I am Pep or what I have done a long time ago, I know what the problem is," Guardiola said in a press conference.

"I am not going to be [wondering] all summer: 'Oh what will happen next season if I don't win some titles.'

"Pressure I had when I arrived in Barcelona, when I had nothing to defend [myself with].

"At that club, if in six months you don't win, you are really out, like Barcelona or Bayern Munich, there you have to win by far. If not, they don't give you a second chance.

"Here they gave me a second chance and we will try to do it. In my situation at a big club, I'm sacked, I'm out, sure, definitely.

"At the clubs I worked at before I am not here, but here we have a second chance and we will try to do it better than this season."

Man City host West Brom on Tuesday night and a win could seal a top four spot if Arsenal drop points against already relegated Sunderland.

If not, they will need at least a point from their final game against Watford to confirm their place in next season’s Champions League.
