Fernando Torres signs for AC Milan from Chelsea

Fernando Torres has agreed to move from Chelsea to AC Milan on a two-year loan deal.

The striker who cost the Blues €63million has been close to an unmitigated disaster at Stamford Bridge, with only a couple of magical moments the saving grace for three-and-a-half trying years.

With Mario Balotelli completing a move to Liverpool, the fallen Serie A giants have taken a gamble on Torres, who will take a medical on Saturday before the deal is finalised.

At the end of the two years, Torres' Chelsea contract expires and so he will be a free agent.

Torres scored 45 goals in 172 games for the club, with several of them coming against inferior opposition in the Europa League.

In big matches he struggled, with his goal against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final in 2012 an exception to the rule.

Torres signed for Chelsea in January 2011 and has always looked a shadow of his former self since the switch.
