Everton still hopeful of signing Barcelona's Sergi Roberto

Following the signing of Gerard Deulofeu from Barcelona earlier this summer, Everton boss Roberto Martinez has now expressed his interest in another one of FC Barcelona's players. The Premier League side are now focused on signing Sergi Roberto. The young midfielder hardly featured under Luis Enrique last season.

It's not the first time Everton have made a play for Roberto. Martinez asked the club to make contact with Barcelona to find out what the chances are of signing him permanently or of taking him on loan for the 2015-16 season. He feels the 23-year-old would improve his options in the middle of the park.

However, any potential deal will not be easy to sort out because Luis Enrique, Barça's boss, has already said he does not want to lose any players who still have contracts with the club. If a player were to pay his own release clause, though, Luis Enrique could not stand in his way of leaving the club.
