Daily Mail: Guardiola's Man City want Barça stopper Ter Stegen

Josep Guardiola wants Manchester City to sign a goalkeeper that will be able to adapt to his style of play and to put pressure on the club’s current stopper, Joe Hart.

And according to the British newspaper the Daily Mail, the No.1 target is Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who they could offer 24 million euros for.

Ter Stegen, 24, has a contract with Barça until 2019 and a release clause worth 80 million euros. That should be enough to guarantee his continuity at Camp Nou. However, the goalkeeping situation at the club could break that security.

Since the German international join the Catalan club, Luis Enrique has insisted on him sharing responsibilities with Claudio Bravo. The Chilean plays in La Liga (and also played the Club World Cup), while Ter Stegen plays in the Champions League and the Copa del Rey. He played a few league games when Bravo was injured.

That has generated doubts over his future at the club during certain moments. And that’s what City and Guardiola would hope to use to tempt him to England.

In principle, Ter Stegen would arrive to play each game in every competition, relegating Joe Hart to a secondary role - or even forcing him to lave the Etihad Stadium.
