Claudio Ranieri cruelly sacked by Leicester City
Leicester City sacked Claudio Ranieri on Thursday night just nine months after he led them to the Premier League title.
He scored them a good result away at Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday night, with a 2-1 defeat in Andalusia giving them the chance to progress with a win at the King Power Stadium, but it wasn’t enough to save his job after a terrible run of form in the Premier League.
The Italian coach was in a sticky spot in the top flight, one place and one point above the relegation zone with 13 matches of the season to go.
Leicester released a statement reading: “The board reluctantly feels that a change of leadership, while admittedly painful, is necessary in the club's greatest interest.
“His status as the most successful Leicester City manager of all time is without question.”
