Chelsea trying to lure young Barça star Xavi Simons

Chelsea want to rob Xavi Simons, of the best players currently in Barcelona’s La Masia set up - according to the Daily Mail, they have been tracking the youngster since 2014.

Their interest has reportedly increased on the back of the player’s stand-out performances in the La Liga Promises, which was recently played in Miami and won by Barça.

The English side first tried to sign him two years ago and even spoke with his father, Regillo Simons, a former player and manager himself who now works for Ajax and splits his time between Catalonia and the Netherlands.

“There are agents everywhere,” Regillo Simons said to the Daily Mail.

“Even when he was much younger they spoke to me and made offers for Xavi, offering to be his agent.

“This is the world of football now. You can’t stop it.

“For many parents it must be difficult. It happens fast and if someone needs money and the clubs offer great amounts, it makes sense to accept.

“We don’t need anything like that now. We are trying to keep ourselves away from that in an educated manner.

“We have spoke with Chelsea and know that they offer good money.

“Agents come to me and offer work with English or Spanish clubs, but they won’t convince me.”

However, it seems Chelsea’s interest won’t lead to much: “Barcelona is a great club and even though there’s more pressure, [Xavi] knows how to manage it. That is important for me.”
