Bakayoko signs for Chelsea
The French midfielder will leave Monaco for €45 million
Monaco will make a €37 million profit on the player in 3 years
Chelsea have finally agreed a deal with Monaco to sign the young midfielder Tiemoué Bakayoko (22) for €45 million and, according to L’Equipe, the deal will be finalised today.
The negotiations had been ongoing for several weeks because Chelsea had initially offered €40 million but Monaco were not willing to lower their asking price. Before signing, however, the player must undergo a medical – which will be particularly important because the player underwent an arthroscopy on his right knee in May to try to end persistent pain in his right knee.
Bakayoko joined Monaco for €8 million from Stade Rennais in 2014, meaning the club have turned a profit of €37 million. The club also made a €20 million profit on Bernardo Silva, who joined Manchester City for €50 million. Bakyoko is coming off the back of a great season in which Monaco won the French league and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
