The Arsenal boss played down talk of a bust up as Alexis continues to be linked with an exit

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says it is completely false that Alexis Sanchez left training early last week and then clashed with his team-mates.

According to various reports in the British media on Sunday, former Barcelona forward Sanchez abandoned a training session in the build up to the Liverpool game and then argued with colleagues in the dressing room.

"Yes, [reports of a falling out with Sanchez are] completely false," French coach Wenger said in a press conference on Monday ahead of his side's Champions League game against Bayern Munich.

"Nothing happened, absolutely nothing. I understand you have to fill newspapers and I respect that. We have to accept that."

Sanchez trained on Monday having been left on the bench for Arsenal's loss to Liverpool on Saturday, eventually being brought on at half-time.

The Chilean set up Danny Welbeck's goal to get his side back into the game, but a late Liverpool goal ensured a 3-1 win for the home side at Anfield.

Arsenal are now focused on turning round a 5-1 first leg defeat against Bayern and Wenger insists the only reason Sanchez was left out at the weekend was tactical.

After joining from Barcelona in 2014, Sanchez has become one of Arsenal's best player, but his contract expires in 2018 and there are doubts about his future at the club.

There is said to be interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, while other Premier League sides may try and sign him if he were to become available, too.

"This is normal [that there are rumours about his future], like with all players," Wenger added.

"Alexis Sanchez has 15 months on his contract so the decision on whether he is here will depend on Arsenal Football Club."

So far this season he has scored 17 goals, more than the 16 and 13 he managed in his first two campaigns, but his only honours have been two Community Shields and one FA Cup.

Arsenal are fifth in the Premier League, 13 points behind leaders Chelsea.
