The Chilean scored the winning goal in extra-time to set up an FA Cup final with Chelsea

Pep's side cannot win the league and are now out of the FA Cup, League Cup & Champions League

WEMBLEY, LONDON -- Pep Guardiola's Manchester City suffered a 2-1 extra-time defeat to Arsenal, who will be Chelsea's rival in the final of the FA Cup. Sergio Aguero opened the scoring and Nacho Monreal equalised, forcing a game which had seen City hit the woodwork twice and have a goal incorrectly ruled out into an addition 30 minutes. With legs getting heavy in extra-time, Chilean international Alexis Sanchez appeared to score the definitive goal and leave City without a trophy this season.

The rhythm of this second final was different to the one seen on Saturday when Chelsea played Tottenham. Neither City nor Arsenal were at the best, both are lacking confidence at the moment and it showed. Arsene Wenger went with three at the back again, with his team sat back and tried to affect City's play. And by whatever means necessary, if required. As David Silva found out. The midfielder had to be taken off in the 23rd minute after a challenge from Gabriel. Aguero was also taking hits and Guardiola was visibly angry with the fourth official on the touchline.

City had 72 percent possession in the first half, but they couldn't do much damage with it. The lights dimmed when Silva left the action. Kevin De Bruyne wasn't at his best and Leroy Sane was hot and cold. Even still, City also had bad luck. In the most decisive moment of the first half, a Raheem Sterling goal was incorrectly ruled out. Referee Craig Pawson said the ball had gone out of play in the build up, but it had not. Arsenal, meanwhile, did not get close to Claudio Bravo.

Things changed after the break when Wenger ordered his players to attack more. Arsenal began to get forward, with Alexis on the left causing problems. And it was from an Arsenal attack that City took the lead, recovering the ball from a corner and counter-attacking. Yaya Toure played a long pass to Aguero, who won the foot race with Monreal. Against Petr Cech, when it looked like he'd lost the ball, Kun smoothly lifted it over the goalkeeper (62). The east side of Wembley, dressed in sky blue, erupted.

It didn't take long for Arsenal to reply. Monreal penalised City when the switched off in defence, levelling the scores up. The Spanish left-back got on the end of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's cross to fire beyond Bravo (71) at the far post. It was City who then took charge and had the best chances before extra-time. Toure hit the post from the edge of the area and Fernandinho headed against the bar, but the game ended in a draw after normal time.

Guardiola took of Aguero and Fernandinho and on came Fabian Delph and Fernando. He was looking for control, but within seconds Arsenal had control of the tie. Alexis was able to turn and fire hom inside the area (100) from a corner, giving Arsenal the win. There was still time for Delph to have a shot deflected into the side nettign after a good run from De Bruyne, but City's hopes of ending the season with a title ended with the final whistle.
