La Liga woes are Barça's Copa threat

Barcelona lost La Liga for various factors but one of them was the team’s bad performance against sides who in theory should have been easier to beat. The side did well against big teams or those in the top parts of the table but lost points against teams which they really shouldn’t have. On that list are Malaga twice, Deportivo, Real Betis and, a long time ago, Alaves on September 10.

It’s true we’re not experiencing this Copa del Rey like others, as it won’t hand us a double or a treble, so we have to look at it in isolation, a title which only serves for us to stick our chests out if we can add it to the list of already won trophies. Nor is there a chance to deny one of our eternal rivals a trophy, taking on an Alaves who beat us already with Jasper Cillessen in goal at the start of the season. Alaves will look to take advantage of Barcelona’s bad performances against smaller teams by putting fear into us.
