André Gomes, ante la Real Sociedad
André Gomes, ante la Real Sociedad | Joan Monfort

Barcelona were able to take three points from Real Sociedad on Saturday night. They didn't help to pressure Real Madrid or change things at the top of the table. That occasion was last week, when Malaga beat Barcelona 2-0 after Real Madrid had slipped up against Atletico. What these three points did is make the Clasico, next weekend, a game that could still have a say on the season and allow Barcelona to still dream of the title.

Above all this game showed the team has problems as a unit and individually. They were unable to find the rhythm of the game, or dominate. They were given a scare by a rival that they had nearly knocked out, losing control of the game. Playing like this against Juventus or Real Madrid will result in Barcelona being knocked out of the Champions League or handing over the title.

On an individual level, the problems Andre Gomes has adapting to the team were shown up again. He was well covered, with Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic, but he didn't show positives in attack or defence.

On the other side of that balance is him. It's always him. Him being the only one who lets us keep dreaming of a comeback against Juventus and an assault at the Bernabeu on La Liga. But this is not the solution. He needs the team because playing like they did here, there will be no comeback.
