Tottenham's coach admitted he missed Leo Messi's first goal

The manager admitted that his children had to wake him up

Tottenham Hotspur coach Mauricio Pochettino admitted he fell asleep watching Argentina's 3-1 win over Ecuador which saw his country reach World Cup 2018.

Pochetino did not want to evaluate Messi's performance in that game but said: "I fell asleep during the game. My children woke me up, but I missed Messi's first goal. Later I saw what he did."

Pochettino added: "Messi felt this responsibility directly, being the best and not able to take Argentina to the World Cup. It would have been difficult to accept the elimination. You always believe when you know the quality of Messi and Argentine football."
