The ex-Barça man will sign a two-year deal with the French side

Oscar had to ask Red Bull Salzburg to let him go in the end

Oscar García Junyent will take over Saint-Etienne on a two-year deal after an agreement was reached with Red Bull Salzburg, who he has coache for the last one-and-a-half years.

Five year after leaving his role as a coach at Barcelona's La Masia, he will begin work in his fourth different league. So far he has coached Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel, Brighton in England and Red Bull in Austria -- not forgetting his brief spell with Watford, also in England.

Oscar was a league and cup winner in Israel and he duplicated that success this season in Austria. He was on Bayer Leverkusen's shortlist after they fired Roger Schmidt, but Salzburg didn't allow him to leave midway through a season.

Offers have also been and gone from Malaga and Nottingham Forest with Salzburg turning them down and they initially rejected Saint-Etienne's approach, too, arguing that he had a contract until 2018.

However, an agreement has finally been reached, with the Austrian side due a series of bonuses depending on Les Verts results throughout Oscar's time at the club.
